THOUGHTS AND SNIPPETS
Out intention is to add anything to this page which does not fall into any of the main menu
categories and we think may be of use to someone looking at purchasing property in Bulgaria or
is exploring other emerging markets for possible purchases.
Car hire in Croatia / Montenegro
In September we looked at the possibility of buying property in Montenegro. However, before
buying, we decided that we wanted to explore the country by car.
We flew into Dubrovnik in Croatia and arranged to pick up a hire car at the airport. One of
problems we initially had, was finding a car hire company which would allow a car to be taken
over the border into Montenegro.
The following company will allow cross border car hire, provide the necessary insurance and
are reasonably priced:

Note: Although we did use this company, we have no connection with them.
Hotels in Sofia, Bulgaria
We have stayed at two hotels in Sofia that we can recommend to anyone planning a
viewing trip.
This is a new 4 star hotel located on a quiet street in downtown Sofia, within walking
distance of the administrative buildings of the major public institutions, banks, business areas,
shopping centres and cultural sights. It offers all modern conveniences for business and rest.
This new hotel is located in the suburbs of Sofia away from the hustle and bustle of the city
and not too far from the airport. Taxi rides to Sofia are incredibly cheap and the journey is about 10
minutes drive to the major sights.
Athough we haven't stayed at this hotel, we have heard good reports from a number of
sources that this is an excellent hotel to stay in. In addition, they offer an airport
collection service.
Note: We have no connection with these hotels or SofiaHotels.net.
Train timetable for Bulgaria
We recently came across this website giving details of destinations and train times
for Bulgaria.
Transfers from Bourgas Airport to hotels or apartments
On a recent trip (June 07) we arranged transfer to our accommodation in St.Vlas via a British
couple who run a transfer business in the area. We have no hesitation in recommending them. We were met at the airport
at the expected time and picked up again at the pre-arranged time for our trip back to the airport.
